Five questions with Sheryl

Five questions with Sheryl—Cornerstone Anglican Church Box Hill

Tells us about a moment when you laughed out loud this week.
My husband was in the middle of a conversation with me when he said we all have ‘tendecies’. I think he meant ‘tendencies’ but he wouldn't believe me and had to look it up on Google. He has a ‘tendecy’ to pronounce words incorrectly, which always makes for a solid laugh.

What did you do last weekend?
We celebrated our last night of having my uncle and aunty here with us in Sydney, before dropping them off at the airport for their flight back to India. On Sunday, we went to church, and I had lots of fun serving our preschoolers at our Cornerstone Kids program.

Can you share a favourite Bible verse with us?
I’ve had several favourite Bible verses that I’ve held onto at different times in my life: Romans 4:18, Ecclesiastes 3:17, Philippians 2:8, and more! But the one that I always come back to is Matthew 28:20: ‘and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’. There is an overwhelming comfort that washes over me when I read that verse—I can hear God reassuring me with a father’s voice and a strong, calm, faithful, and powerful promise.

Tell us about your favourite meal growing up.
Rasam and white rice, with Smith’s original chips, mango pickle, and some chicken vindalee (a South Indian dish) on the side.

Who or what has encouraged you recently?
Seeing my mum sit down by herself to read the Bible and pray every evening always encourages me.
