Five questions with Aimee
Tell us about a moment from this week that you want to remember.
I had a really interesting conversation with some Christian friends about godly and ungodly uses of humour. When does satire become unkind? Is Aussie irreverence a cultural quirk, or does it border on sinful? I want to keep thinking on that.
What did you do last weekend?
On Saturday, I went to the wedding of a couple of friends, which was really lovely. Highlights included abundant Italian food for dinner and a silent disco. On Sunday, church. We had our monthly community lunch afterwards, so that was most of my afternoon.
Can you share a favourite Bible verse with us?
I love Psalm 25:4-5 and like to pray it before I read my Bible each day: ‘Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Saviour, and my hope is in you all day long.’
Tell us about your favourite meal growing up.
Mum’s pumpkin soup with freshly-baked bread. So yummy and cosy on winter nights.
Who or what has encouraged you recently?
An email newsletter from a couple doing mission work that I read this morning, which included an update about some physical and mental health challenges. It was such an exemplar of helpful vulnerability and godly suffering. They were raw and unapologetic, but not self-pitying or bitter. They praised God’s goodness without being trite or minimising their pain. I’m really encouraged by their faithfulness. It was also an awesome model of how to lead and also lean on God’s people.
